Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum

Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) consists of high strength resistant glass fibers bonded with high density gypsum cement to produce panels that traditionally were done with plaster castings. GFRG is lighter in weight, superior in strength and much easier to install than the traditional plaster castings. GFRG is also lighter than traditional gypsum and can be formed to a better detail.

There are hundreds of in stock molds available for column covers (straight/tapered/fluted), capitals, bases, moldings, baseboards, coves and sconces, ceiling vaults, and cornices. These products serve both functionality and aesthetics. 

GFRG can also be used for wide range of entry way and door surrounds. GFRG can also be used for medallions, intricate moldings and decorative pieces to decorate ceilings and walls. It is often used to replicate historical interiors found in hotels and restaurants and period homes or where ornamentation is a significant part of the overall look of the property.

GFRG is more inexpensive than traditional plaster products as it is made in a factory setting and not at the job site. The molds are designed to create shapes and integrated supports that enhance the overall look and design of a room.

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete

GFRC is used for exterior projects as it is similar to concrete in strength and durability with only a fraction of the weight. 

GFRC is a stronger molded product with greater moisture resistance. The most sought-after value-add of GFRC is its strength. When embedded into a concrete matrix, glass fibers act as load-carrying members; concrete itself is inherently strong, so the synergistic combination of the two naturally creates a super-sturdy foundational material. This characteristic is why glass fiber reinforced concrete is so weather-resistant and long-lasting. While also being prepared to paint once set up.

Compared to traditional concrete, GFRC is lightweight. Exceptionally lightweight, in fact. Depending on its makeup, glass fiber reinforced concrete can weigh as much as 75% less than traditional concrete. This makes it a versatile material for use in residential applications and also reduces end-cost. Lighter materials are easier to ship, install, and maintain.

Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic

First developed in the early 20th century, Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) has become a staple in the building industry. Originally used merely for the construction of parts, the architectural advantages were discovered with the attempted destruction of Disneyland's "House of the Future." Built in the mid 1950s, the futuristic house was built entirely of fiberglass, and when the attraction was no longer deemed necessary, it was scheduled to be destroyed in 1967. Astonishingly, the wrecking ball merely bounced off the structure, and the possibilities for GFRP were finally recognized and began to grow. Today, UP provides a variety of products in GFRP to fit your building needs and aesthetic vision.

Fiberglass reinforced panels are made of strong polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass. They are used on walls and ceilings and can be installed directly over drywall, wood, concrete block, and other types of solid surfaces. GFRP systems have a continuous, durable, scratch-resistant surface that is easy to clean and is mold and stain resistant. The panels can even be hosed down for cleaning. All of these qualities make GFRP excellent for use in kitchens, bathrooms, medical facilities, and other facilities requiring frequent, deep cleaning.
